An authoritative parent is a parent who is warm, accepting and has positive control and guidance of behaviour.
This type of parent sets guidelines but are flexible with them, for example bedtime may be 8:00 but if it is a special occasion they may be allowed to stay up longer.
Most children raised under this type of parenting style tend to be better ajusted socially and have a better self-concept.
Authoritarian
An authoritarian parent is a parent who is strict, gives out discipline, the parents have control and emotions are controlled.
This type of parents magaes child behaviour with reward and punishment(physical punishment can turn to abuse.)
The rules are more rigid, if the bedtime is 8:00 it is 8:00 no matter what.
Children raised under this type of style may feel rejected and have social and emotinal problems.
Permissive
A permissive parent is a parent who sets out little to no rules and the child has full control. The parent does not guide or control their child's behaviour-children may control the family.
No punishment or rules, the best time can be whatever the child decides it to be.
Children raised under this style tend to be implusive, irrespnosible and immature. They havent been taught how to act in society so they don't know how their actions affect others.
